July in the garden

We still have not done any landscaping in our back yard. The front is okay. We have been watering the front yard with irrigation/ditch water, as well as the back yard fruits and veggies. I have fertilized, too. And sprayed the apples. We may have a good year, IF Coal Creek doesn't run out of water.

And that's Gail's car parked on the street. She and Jonny are here until Thursday. They were all here for the Fourth, and Seth went home on the 5th.

Below, tomatoes.

Below, blurry apples. They are about the size of a golf ball.

Below. A Peach. There's more. Ha.

I've picked a bowl of peas, the green beans are blooming, lettuce is still okay. Spinach is gone.  Radishes are gone. I may have won the battle of the squash bugs. Maybe. I hope. I planted another zucchini hill and will attempt to be diligent and keep the bugs at bay. I planted seeds, and two leaves are up. We shall see!

These are the day lilies Donna gave me. They are doubles!! So pretty.

Mmmmm. Raspberries.

Below, Mike, moving the hose. We don't sprinkle, but the water pressure is adequate to get a really good stream that can soak an area really well in about 10 minutes. Labor-intensive, but free and saves culinary water. Our lawn has never been greener.

July Fifth. After the fourth.

A morning at Park Discovery.
Some grouchy kiddos. Some fun.
A quick brunch back at my house, and then they were off! Quick trip, but fun to spend a little time together.

Fun on the Fourth

Parade in Kanarraville. Mom came!

Tandy's float. Balloons, babies, and silly string. (Only the babies were old. Ha. Her kids, aGails kids, and Tandy's cousins' kids.

Mike with Nick's kids.

My girls. Jane & Emily

Playing BINGO at my house.

Jonathan calling Bingo.

Emily and the busy ball popper toy.

Logan ignoring me and attempting to avoid having his picture while he's having quiet time on his tablet.

Emily on the little rocking chair.

Me, Emily, Jane. At Pam's in Kannarraville, awaiting dinner. It's cooking. I helped. I wasn't just lounging. Ha.
AFTER the dinner. We were so full! Dutch oven chicken, Dutch oven potatoes, rolls, green salad, fruit, drinks, and homemade ice cream for dessert and strawberry shortcake.

Eric and Matt came, but could not stay long cuz of puppy problems at home.

Pam has a shed. Damian and Josh (Tandy's cousin's husband) FILLED it with fireworks.

They used some child labor to haul it from the shed to the back of Damian's rented pick up truck. It took a while. Bigger kids helped, too, but it still took a while!

Waiting to see if it was a "go" or not.
It was. It was spectacular, according to the photos. I went home and to bed. Nick and family followed shortly after.
Happy Independence Day!

Five days makes a big difference

In Rehab and Physical therapy for Mom, five days hasade a HUGE different!. Good progress, but I'm so glad to be her advocate and make sure meds are correct, etc. She's doing a lot of hard work.

We've been on a couple of walks out in the sunshine. She's being wheeled in chair, but might be up to a little more in about a week. She's already able to do much of bathroom duties alone. Amazing. She is Eating in the dining room most of the time trying to eat more and gain weight. And she really does try to work out with the therapists. She overdid it one day and knows better than to do that now. And she's nearly free of pain meds.

Now if they would just stop pricking her fingers two or three times a day, she'd really appreciate it.
