Heading to Maine and Acadia National Park

We ran across this little lobstering harbor on our way to Acadia National Park.  We decided to go from our Hotel at Brunswick, Maine, along a more coastal road, rather than the quicker Freeway. That means longer, but we hoped to see lighthouses. We did not. But Lobster traps are pretty cool!

We drove through cute little towns. It was a rainy, dreary day.  We did go through the Maine Maritime Museum just outside of Brunswick, Maine.

This was the parking lot of the cute little motel we stayed at in Brunswick. The ONLY reservation I made for the whole New England Trip.  That was it!  Traveller's Inn. It was quaint and cute and the breakfast area was tiny but adequate.  We didn't get to eat WITH the Burnetts because the tables were tiny, few and separated. But we ate and started on our way.
And we made other detours along the way. Some were intentional. Some were not. ha.

Geese grazing on the lawns around the museum.

I just loved looking at all the different kinds of homes along our route. The one above is white. The one below is . . .um . ...  shakes? Shingles?

I thought this sculpture was pretty cool. Too bad you can't read the caption on the plaque. Sorry.

One of Mike's goals was to eat a lobster roll. I don't think we picked the right place for one, frankly. Oh well. Live and learn.  That's IT on my little paper plate.  It's like the size of a hot-dog bun, grilled bread, a pickle on the side and I actually had to salt mine. I never salt food. $21. I think not!

 More gorgeous homes.  And Inns.

I stopped to touch the Atlantic Ocean. But not for very long. It was a bit brisk that day.  But Irene actually got in and got her feet wet.

 Lots of sea gulls

What was behind us on this little bitty beach-a quaint little sea side town!

Zooming across a fancy-schmancy bridge!  There were lots of cables and they DISSAPPEARED into the fog above us.  Creepy.  It looked like a cool place to explore along the coast.  But we didn't. We just drove on. And on.  And on.
