Heading to Maine and Acadia National Park

We ran across this little lobstering harbor on our way to Acadia National Park.  We decided to go from our Hotel at Brunswick, Maine, along a more coastal road, rather than the quicker Freeway. That means longer, but we hoped to see lighthouses. We did not. But Lobster traps are pretty cool!

We drove through cute little towns. It was a rainy, dreary day.  We did go through the Maine Maritime Museum just outside of Brunswick, Maine.

This was the parking lot of the cute little motel we stayed at in Brunswick. The ONLY reservation I made for the whole New England Trip.  That was it!  Traveller's Inn. It was quaint and cute and the breakfast area was tiny but adequate.  We didn't get to eat WITH the Burnetts because the tables were tiny, few and separated. But we ate and started on our way.
And we made other detours along the way. Some were intentional. Some were not. ha.

Geese grazing on the lawns around the museum.

I just loved looking at all the different kinds of homes along our route. The one above is white. The one below is . . .um . ...  shakes? Shingles?

I thought this sculpture was pretty cool. Too bad you can't read the caption on the plaque. Sorry.

One of Mike's goals was to eat a lobster roll. I don't think we picked the right place for one, frankly. Oh well. Live and learn.  That's IT on my little paper plate.  It's like the size of a hot-dog bun, grilled bread, a pickle on the side and I actually had to salt mine. I never salt food. $21. I think not!

 More gorgeous homes.  And Inns.

I stopped to touch the Atlantic Ocean. But not for very long. It was a bit brisk that day.  But Irene actually got in and got her feet wet.

 Lots of sea gulls

What was behind us on this little bitty beach-a quaint little sea side town!

Zooming across a fancy-schmancy bridge!  There were lots of cables and they DISSAPPEARED into the fog above us.  Creepy.  It looked like a cool place to explore along the coast.  But we didn't. We just drove on. And on.  And on.

Sharon, Vermont

We're going to ride a ferry!  Across Lake Champlaine. Yes, we got lot finding it.  Yes, it was fun and cool and windy and pretty.

Yes, we got lost finding the way to Sharon, VT, too.  We got off the Freeway ok. But which way do we go?  There was much discussion.  We flipped a coin. No, not really. Majority ruled, we overrode Mike's misfired directions in his brain and we got there. Mike finally understands how I feel when my brain turns around in my head and directions are reversed with North being South and vice versa. It hurts!  ha

Gorgeous Grounds!

The leaves in this area are just starting to turn. But the fall flowers!  Just so pretty. I couldn't resist just snapping away with my little camera. And am pleased with some of the results.

Some stones from the original birthplace home of Joseph Smith.

Irene Burnett reminds me a lot of my Mom.

2019 New York

New York with the Burnetts. Sunday afternoon they took us on a drive to see their "Camp."  It is up in the area where Dale was born and raised. Above is the little white one-room school house that he attended.

On their property, they had a screen house built. They had it built very VERY tight to keep bugs out. They enjoy it lots for camping and visiting while fixing up the house proper. The photo below of the house is sideways and I can't really switch it here. Sorry.  It's old, a work in progress and they enjoy the time spent here, fixing it up to enjoy together with their family.
Here's a view of the fire pit from inside the screen house.

The camp house is up there, past the truck and past the trees.   They love this area, and I can see why.  There are hikes and hills and blueberries and many memories.
The sideways view of the side of the house.
Lovely BRIGHT red dahlia flowers growing outside the house.
Mike and Dale and Irene.  An out building to hold their tools, etc.
Another out building to hold other stuff. ha. There is no electricity or plumbing in this camp house. So it is truly "camping" when up there. Last year they went up in the winter to install their wood-burning stove because they got a NEW wood burning stove for their regular house. It is beautiful and bright and shiny. The old one? not so much. ha.  I didn't take photos of the interior and all their hard work, but I was pretty impressed with what they'd done.
