Some positives and really encouraging things in the remodel

I hung a painting on the basement wall. This area has been ignored for the duration of the remodel. Dust accumulated here, too. Deeply. Boxes were piled around. Furniture. It's been a huge mess.

Toys got organized.

Shelves were dusted are and straightened. Mike is happy watching a playoff game.
More shelves and books were straightened.

Tidy, organized toys, with more room to play with them since the Cedar Chest went to my room upstairs. Marble works are popular.

The tub was set. It is not plumbed, and the tub, toilet and shower aren't quite finished. But we do have blinds in there.

And the sinks work. The mirror is ordered.

There is empty space in a spare bedroom closet  that I can use for storage.

The Sorensen trunk has a home in the spare room closet.

My sewing machine has a new home, along with ALL the fabric--in the same room. Cool.

Quilts have a new place to be displayed in master bedroom. (It's the old gun case that never has guns in it.)

MIke found his Dad's fly fishing rod in that gun cabinet. According to Mike, it's a very expensive fly rod. But you'd never know it since there is no identifying marks ANYWHERE on it, sadly.

I unpacked China and other dishes that lived out of sight for decades. Our wedding china, Mike's Grandma Liebhardt's china. All in kitchen cabinets that are awaiting glass in the doors. Mike assured me that Jack would remove the doors when installing the glass panes, so my putting things away and on shelves is not going to be an issue. I mean, we can only trip over boxes for so long, yeah?

We have some lovely new barstools. Comfy. Nice. Sturdy. We will most likely be eating most of our meals on these, rather than at the big table....if and when we ever move it in here.

I have been working with Peonies by Penny on landscape design.  There is hope for this mess. I was really tickled with her front yard ideas for us.

The front corner  bedroom has been transformed from the Bunk bed Room to this. (Above)

I don't have to wash dishes while kneeling by the bathtub any more! Happy Day.

The little front middle bedroom is the new sewing room. New closet doors, along with the new texture, paint, baseboards, door casing and  new carpet  . And new door.

And Mike had a good Consultation with Laird Campbell who assured us that the broken casters on our piano are fixable with some elbow grease to prepare the surfaces, some glue, clamps, screws. Whew.

And that's what is  good and new at our house!

We also had some fun outings out with my parents over the past month for their birthdays.

At LA Quinta lobby for lunch with Robert and Janet.

And Mom came to our house for a haircut afterwards.

House update in Mid January

Here is to hoping I won't be paying another month of storage unit fees for February, but we are just SO  SLOW. I guess I should just plan on it.

I have much to sort through and put away.

BUT some places are neat and tidy and starting to look like In want them to. Like this sunny little corner in my kitchen. My almost fully functional kitchen. The pantry is not finished and loaded. But the rest of the cupboards and drawers are. I can cook. I can clean. I am loving it!

But, alas. I still have boxes and bags and piles to see to.Mostly In our bedroom with the as-yet-unfinished bathroom. The sinks are plumbed, so I can brush my teeth in there now. But that's all.

Piles and

Piles, and

Piles and more piles. And boxes.

Tools and empty boxes in the kitchen to breakdown and recycle.

Plus a piano waiting to be repaired. The extra fridge is in the garage now, though.  We have one more piece of furniture/cabinetry to install in the kitchen/dining area.

But I do have boxes all filled up and ready to haul to donation centers. There are about five of them in the Living room right now. Mike is sorting through things in the basement and he has been burning and recycling loads of paper. I hope that keeps up, as there are many more boxes to go.
