2/12/2026 Pearl Harbor

Three rode the bus. Five took the car.  We had to arise and get out early (6:30 a.m.departure . . .🥱.) Kaylee is a much better Bus navigator than I am. But IT WAS less walking.

The others got to leave for Pearl Harbor later--Nick with four kids! Vacation time for Kaylee. But it only takes 30 minutes by car to get from point A to Point B, and 59 minutes by bus, with one transfer.

Pretty clouds! Blue sky! No rain! But it did cloud up later. It was still nice, though.

 The three Bus riders.
Emily ( on the floor), had her full of museums and history by this point.

Mike was loving it, however.
Kaylee observing with Jane one of the exposed gun turrets from the Memorial.

Nick pointing out stuff.

After the Pearl Harbor experience, we headed back to Waikiki. Mike wasn't speaking to me. We took Logan with us this trip and Kaylee went in their rental car. I led us astray ( AGAIN!!) trying to get the bus back to our apartments. We missed the first one because we were on the wrong side of the street and I didn't figure it out until too late. But buses do come frequently. The walk is shorter from Line A instead of W to our apartments. Mike said he told me we were in the wrong place, but I didn't understand what he meant ( be cause he was not clear). I did not even see the correct bust stop until the bus arrived. He insisted that he had told me, but . . .well, it was all very unclear to me as we sat and I looked and I I finally zoomed in. . . And by then we missed our first ride. But we got where we needed to go.! Logan's parents even saw and waived to us from their Lanai when we got off the bus!

By then it was time for lunch. Nick went to get Costco Pizza, Mike and I ate steak at the brewery close by (and drank lots of Coke!). Then I headed out with Nick and fam to swim at the beach here in Waikiki. Nice day!. Kids loved it. Loudly, with very much yelling and hollering . We all played hard. I think Emily was the only one with a sunburn. I'll have to add photos from the beach later after Kaylee shares a few with me.

We walked to get Shave Ice after that, then back to the apartments. Mike just rested his legs all that time and read.
I'm sorry he missed out on the Shave Ice, tho.

Lunch at the Waikiki Brewery. Fast, good food  (because we beat the lunch crowd)

That's a big mound of fluffy shaved ice! And that's the "Keiki" or kid size!

Logan tunneled through his. Haha.

Bug in his eye!

Nick and Kaylee hiked the Makapuu Lighthouse Trail and I stayed with the kids after we were home from beach and kids kind of fed and settled. We just watched TV, they ate snacks and retired early ( though my guess is they will pop right out of bed as soon as the parents walk in the door!) Nick and Kaylee got some food on their way back to the VRBO rental. Theirs is really nice! Sleeps 6, 2 bedrooms, new remodeled, full kitchen. And they have closets and dressers! Haha. And a balcony.

Bird of Paradise flower on the walk home from beach.

A Hawaiian Rainbow!

Emily's souvenir is a flower clip for her hair. Cute!

Here's Kaylee's sunset photo from tonight.
