for the birds
I love birds. I love to hear them when they come back in the spring after a long winter absence. I thrill when I actually find a nest in a tree in the early spring before all the leaves are on the trees. I mean, with as many birds are there are around, I should see nests EVERYwhere, but I don't. And I love eagles. I have dragged family members to more than one "Bald Eagle Day" in Southern Utah. And who can forget the Snow Goose episode? I just like birds. I don't even have a bird bath or a bird feeder in my yard like some people do, but there are plenty around here to just enjoy. There are all kinds. They play and bathe in the ditches, eat stuff in our lawns and gardens (just bugs, worms, etc. They are NOT pests.), call their children home loudly at dusk.
HOWEVER, I do NOT enjoy birds one single bit when they wake me up at 4:30 a.m. with their loud and happy tweeting and twittering. What's up with that?! It's not even light yet, or even close to being daylight!!! 4:30 a.m. is just WAY too early to be awakened on any morning. So I just get up and slam the stupid window shut so I can't hear them quite as clearly. That's not going to work when it gets hotter and we put the swamp cooler in our bedroom window soon...the noise comes right through. Dang those stupid birds!
