Acadia and beyond

We didn't drive exactly straight to Acadia National Park.  Remember--it's a NATIONAL  PARK. There should be those standard brown signs all over, pointing the way, right?  NOT.  We wandered around a bit. Eventually we ran into the Visitor's center. Apparently we'd been driving all through the park, unknowingly.  Huh?  Well, we dropped into the visitor's center, picked up a map. Got more confused about where we'd been. It was getting late in the day--about 4 pm.  I took a few photos from an over look to Bar Harbor, Maine, cruise ships, etc.

 And fungi!  Strange, eh?

 Granite just pops up everywhere.
Bar Harbor, Maine, in the distance.

MY goal was to go to Cadillac Mountain. It was cloud-covered, but we went anyway.

Ordinarily, I think there would be a nice view from up here. Not today! :-)

Everyone else thought it was too cold and dreary to get out. But I wanted to find the USGS marker...and I did!

Big rifts in the granite. Water, ice, freeze, crack.

They waited for me to wander the entire circle of the parking lot. Which was practically deserted.  But I got to see at the least the ground, flora and fauna of Cadillac Mountain.

Then we headed down the mountain, out of the park, and into to Bangor, Maine. We hunted a while fro a hotel. And hunted and hunted and hunted. We ended up in a Rode way in type place. It was okay.
A bit shabby, but not really expensive    . . . comfortable bed. Free breakfast.  All we needed. Because we were On the Road Again!
