Sept 30, 2025.Tuesday. Corfu!

Waaay down on the water was where Louisa Durrell lived with her four children between 1934 and 1937 ( or so) Her son , Gerald, grew up to write,"My Family and Other Animals," A memoir of their life on the island. It's delightful, as is the PBS series, "The Durrell's of Corfu."

We took a small group tour in a 16 passenger tour van all around the island, enjoying the scenic views and lunch.

Lovely day, except I felt kind of icky. Sickly. Tired. Sleepy. HOT. the seat next to me was producing a lot of heat. I felt fried by the time we returned.

I took cold medicine all day and plan to just keep resting, drinking, sleeping. See if I can kick it quickly.

Lovely island. Beautiful bays. Wish we could have gone swimming.

Gorgeous busy and beaches.
The building up high was where we went next as an overlook.  I've never seen cypress trees growing in the wild like this. Lots of olives, too.

A panoramic screen.

Cypress trees are the tall skinny dark evergreens. Olive trees are light silvery green.
Albania in the distance. 1.2 miles away from Greece's Corfu island. Above.
Below is just a nice scenic overlook.

Monday Sept 29 Kotor

 Another walled city fortress.

We kayaked!

I didn't bring my camera, so will have to wait for photos of that.

Mike stayed on board in a.m. and watched 2 movies and walked three miles around the deck.

After lunch back on ship with Mike, we tendered back to the old fortresses in town and saw more cats shops, doors fountains, walks, gelato, churches, etc. Granite and limestone and marble every where.

Fish! I guess this was part of the most? Chub.

Very very old . Very tall. Very fortified.

I was very very tired.

Dinner together in the Summer Garden restaurant.

I went to bed with a bit of a sore throat.

Sunday Sept 28,2025 Dubrovnik

 Dubrovnik Croatia is gorgeous!

From the first peep through our porthole...
To the view from our breakfast deck.
Quaint homes perched on the nearby hills.
The "garage' is a precarious perch off the road, above the house with hairpin curves on either side.

Lots of rocks everywhere. Imagine building on that.

We rode a shuttle bus into the Old Town area, took a 50.min walking tour with "Lily" and we only heard part of what she said. Then we boarded a Tuk-Tuk with a cute couple from Brisbane, AUS. We were driven from  the bridge to the cable car upper station.

Lily was our guide. Behind her is a rain spout thing that people would stand on and hug the wall above it (for good luck?)

She stopped here, in the very busy, crowded, noisy part of town to talk to us. Why not a quieter area?

We did pass this cutie standing in a window

Mike was kind and snapped a photo for another tour group from our bus.

Battlements behind us.

Dubrovnik bridge..
Mwah! 💋

Our Tik-Tuk driver, Vito.

Pretty water! And the first quarantine place in Europe. Way long time ago. Immigrants spent 8 days in each of the 5 barracks, making 40 days . Apparently if you spoke Italian or Croatian, it sounds like our word for quarantine.

Then we rode up to the very top where the cable car goes. But it was closed. ( Glad we rode up in a tuk tuk!) Lovely views of whole city, old and new.

I think sometimes I'm better at selfies!:-)
The weather was great. We LIKED the overcast day as it was cooler.

Far away mountains. We can see three countries from up there. Bosnia-Hersogovenia, Serbia, Montenegro.

Behind this damaged wall up on top is a was museum. Probably built during Napoleon's time.we didn't pay to go in
We COULD have ridden a bike over a cable from P t a to PoinT b. Crazy
 Just dangling hundred
Newer houses.

A panoramic shot of the city, old town, new area. Cursed island nearby.

Fountains with drinkable water. Inside ancient city walks.

Churches. Mostly Roman Catholic.

One big cathedral at the end of this road. One on the right.

A monestary. Also where third oldest pharmacy in Europe was here  we did not go to that museum.

An organ in a church.
Columns in a cathedral.

Another church.
The sign about a pharm. It's old. Very.
A GATE in this fortified city that was a true republic for all it's life.

A down spout/ rain spout to drain water off roofs.

A statue with a "rubbed shiney" good luck nose.😀

We walked around town, ate some ice cream, then walked back to bus pick up area to go back to ship.
It's a beautiful city.
Got back to ship and took a nap!  Late lunch in buffet.
Brief visit with Rob &Donna.
Need another nap?!?YES. Yes, I do. ZZZzzz

Norwegian loves stickers. WE love trivia
We had to leave the ship in the morning before getting all the answers, I invited the ONLY other trivia competitor to finish grading ours and put it on our door. And she did! So sweet.

And we made it back to the ship right before it started to rain. Brrr
Night time view of bridge as we were leaving.
