Dubrovnik Croatia is gorgeous!
From the first peep through our porthole...To the view from our breakfast deck.
Quaint homes perched on the nearby hills.
The "garage' is a precarious perch off the road, above the house with hairpin curves on either side. And there are no guardrails around this parking "spot". Just a cement slab.
Lots of rocks everywhere. Imagine building on that.
We rode a shuttle bus into the Old Town area, took a 50 min walking tour with "Lily" and we only heard part of what she said. Then we boarded a Tuk-Tuk with a cute couple from Brisbane, AUS. We were driven from the bridge to the cable car upper station.
Lily was our guide. Behind her is a rain spout thing that people would stand on and hug the wall above it (for good luck?)She stopped here, in the very busy, crowded, noisy part of town to talk to us. Why not a quieter area?
Dubrovnik bridge..
Mwah! 💋
Pretty water! And the first quarantine place in Europe. Way long time ago. Immigrants spent 8 days in each of the 5 barracks, making 40 days . Apparently if you spoke Italian or Croatian, it sounds like our word for quarantine.
Then we rode up to the very top where the cable car goes. But it was closed. ( Glad we rode up in a tuk tuk!) Lovely views of whole city, old and new.
I think sometimes I'm better at selfies!:-)
The weather was great. We LIKED the overcast day as it was cooler.
Behind this damaged wall up on top is a was museum. Probably built during Napoleon's time.we didn't pay to go in
We COULD have ridden a bike over a cable from Point a to Point b. Crazy
Just dangling hundreds of feet above a cliff. No thank you.Newer houses.
Fountains with drinkable water. Inside ancient city walls.
One big cathedral at the end of this road. One on the right.
A monestary. Also where third oldest pharmacy in Europe was here. we did not go to that museum.
An organ in a church.
Columns in a cathedral.
A GATE in this fortified city that was a true republic for all it's life.
A down spout/ rain spout to drain water off roofs.
A statue with a "rubbed shiney" good luck nose.😀
